Since its inception in 2001, The Write Room has worked on a wide variety of projects and built a large and international clientele—mostly in Europe and North-America. The Write Room launched it own independent non-fiction press, The Write Room Press, in the fall of 2008. The Write Room Press launched its first title in the spring of 2009. The Write Room specializes in technical writing, preparing press releases, corporate materials, instructional and conference materials, and copy-editing. The Write Room also offers seminars on academic and non-fiction writing.

The Write Room was founded and has been run for the past decade by Gerda Wever, PhD, who has been a professional editor and writer for 10 years. Aside from writing and editing projects, she teaches seminars in academic writing and APA formatting, and works with and translates manuscripts in German, Dutch, and English. She has published 50-odd chapters, books, columns, articles, and opinion pieces, and presented her work at international conferences. She previously worked as an editor for Elsevier, world-leading publisher of science and health information and served as an editorial board member for Room, Canada’s oldest feminist literary journal. She continues to contribute book reviews to Room.
